I went to Tapavino again, this time with Twinnie. We started with white anchovies matched with Tio Pepe Fino dry sherry.
We continued with the amazing pea & broadbean tostados I raved about last time. We may have ordered two rounds…
Seared rabbit, pork & morcilla terrine with corn & piquillo relish, and a science-lab-esque carafe of the recommended Cantocuerdas Albillo (2011, Madrid) which was unexpectedly rich and aromatic without being sweet or fruity. I know zero about Spanish wines, but know I’ll be looking out for that one again!
We also had the amazing jamon & mushroom tart I had last time, then evened out all that meat with the baby gem & eshallot salad (with cripsy slice of jamon for good measure).
Aaaaand we saved room for pudding! A shared glass of treacly Pedro Ximénez sherry, and a shared slice of the divine dulce de leche torte with PX cream. INCREDIBLE. Perfect short pastry, quite a firm eggy filling which was beautifully perfumed and far less sweet than I’d imagined, and magically boozy whipped cream. With a drink that tastes of melted Christmas pudding. HEAVEN.
